Preparing To Climb

The George Washington Bridge is one of the signature facilities for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.  From the top to the water it is 612 feet.  I had always wanted to walk the cable with its crew and thought it would be good preparation for walking some distant ridge.  So, with a little help from my colleagues I stepped out to a beautiful view on a clear November 3rd afternoon.
